not much yet...

Just some building placement ideas… the perspectives are shot and the details…hehe nonexistent, but in my minds eye I can start to see imaginary men women and children on the winding paths and bridges… was suggested by a friend I should call it "bridge over Iorn bay"...

stage 1... idea sketch

As I was out on a blog searching adventure yesterday, I found inspiration! There were a series of works featuring dark industrial cities… naturally in a romanticized angle. I have never done work of this nature, but have always admired it. So this is me giving it a shot… new to this I am nervous as to the quality of my work, but hey if I don’t try I’ll never know or learn!

Here above is my preliminary sketch…this is where my harbor town will be nestled in.

unfinished raven

this one is a work in progress... but I wanted to put it up as is...

Pancake Day parade

Traditionally in Sweden…or at least in my family, Thursdays is Pancake Day. So grab a plate and join in the fun!

model Photography

There are around a million architecture models lying around at home that need to be properly photographed. Some of them have been turned into lamps, some are displayed as pieces of art in my apartment… and one of them is making a sneak peek on my blog!

Persian well

In the central desert of Iran lies a city called Yasd, known as the city of wind towers. The construction is from around the 1400 and is a form of natural convection used to cool homes and wells. The wind is caught at the top and funneled down, the effect is Astounding! I was surprised at how much cooler it was under the tower, literally several degrees Celsius!... I have been told that a well with this construction can keep a steady 10 degree C even if the temperature above rises to a scorching 40!

confession...

Been busy today putting together my portfolio for an internship I want… not much time for frivolous creativity…but I did take a minute to revamp a doodle for a Stan Lee tribute on Art Jumble… Daredevil is one of my favorite heroes, which was hard when that awful movie came out! The darker troubled persona developed by Frank Miller, reintroduced the superhero genre to my adult self, and now I am hooked! Like every other guy n gal out there I wrote stories fancying myself a writer… or something, and so in the dusty shadows of my office lies my manuscript, that could very well be the next big comic book!... hehe or somet

mail me art...

What I will be mailing in… hope they like it! (Materials: acrylic, sepia ink, padded envelope)

milk

The giant ants who tried to steal my milk...

what I did...

Decided to post the process… from lines to glow. I am not entirely satisfied with it, will probably poke at it some more… an artist’s work is never done...

green glow

Put my line drawing to color... my first time with this kind of style... truly a learning experience! The whole idea started in Art jumbles "green" theme for this week (but everyone did superheroes... and now I feel a bit silly...oh well!)

paint, ink and envelopes...

Been trying out some ideas for a contest I plan to enter... testing materials, techniques and such. Nothing has quite settled in as right just yet, but I do like this sketch...

today

Been a great day in its own… spent the entire evening working on my “modern ruins”, testing colors/textures and highlighting. Feels nice to loose oneself in a project for hours! Singing along out loud to the melodies of my play-list (just be happy you were not there to hear it! hihi.).

And, as an extra little cherry on top of it all I found out that I won last weeks Monday Artday challenge “a plan”!

As I wind down a productive day… I have naught to show for it! hum… well here is something I inked last week, goodnight!

modern ruins

The picture idea came to me last night just as I was falling into the land of nod, I had to get up and jot down the gist so I would remember it today… typically I got so wound up after this, it took an hour before I was finally able to sleep. This is a work in progress… I think... I like it in this phase though... but I need practice putting color to my ideas. Wish me luck!

superhero pin-up

One of the challenges I am working on this week is ”retro pin-up girl” for art jumble… but on the way I got lost and drew this pin-up man/superhero instead…
